Remember that Units may only use each of their ActiveI primarily play Republic and share a collection with my brother who plays CIS. Take a look at the list of 24 minis above, each of which have their own sculpt, their own unit card, their own interactions with each other. Many of these characters (most glaringly Jango) are long overdue for a Legion release but have not even been hinted at by the developers. Republic and CIS continue to miss key features enjoyed by the Civil War factions such as a third corps, a creature trooper, more than two operatives, and an emplacement (none of which, again, have been hinted at being under development) and while the Civil War factions are getting their 7th/8th operatives the stuff many of us have been hoping for is being made for a different game. Criticisms? The rules could be clearer in parts – the distinction between ‘Characters’ and ‘Units’ is a little bit head achey, the rules for pushing models near the edges of elevated terrain are written in awful legalese, and I’m still not sure I’m playing ‘priority objectives’ right. I haven’t mentioned the rules for vertical terrain – they’re elegant in play, work perfectly for the theme, but in the rulebook they’re a bit of a pain to read. Star Wars: Shatterpoint is a tabletop skirmish game from Atomic Mass Games, based on the Star Wars universe. The horizontal side of the Stat Card also shows your Stamina (top of the bottom left pair of symbols) which shows how much damage the unit can take before being Wounded, and Durability (below Stamina) which shows how many times the unit can be Injured before it’s defeated.

Out of nowhere, Atomic Mass Games (AMG) announced a new skirmish-level Star Wars miniatures game yesterday, but what will that mean for Legion? a Character is a model in a Unit, even if the unit only consists of 1 model! This means that when the Dathomirian Dexterity ability on Ventress’ says that “Each character in this Unit” may Jump, it doesn’t mean that everyone in your squad can do so – it just means Ventress can Jump. This might seem an unintuitive way to write the rule, and it’s different than other Atomic Mass Games’ writing (Marvel Crisis Protocol would have said “This character may…”), but the great thing about it is that it makes the terminology and rules logic consequent across both single- and multi-character Units. If a rule says “each character in this unit” for a Supporting Unit with multiple characters, it means they all get to do what the ability says. The B1 Battle Droids come in at 3PC with 0 force points, 9 Stamina, and 2 Durability. 3PC makes it a little harder to move this unit around in squad building but in tandem with Kalani allows them to go with any of the 3 Primaries that get 8 squad points. Following Kalani’s theme the B1 Battle Droids have 9 Stamina and 2 Durability giving them slightly above average health. If building the minis can be a pain, painting is a joy. I used Army Painter Speed Paint 2.0 (provided as a free sample by Army Painter) over a white Stynylrez airbrush primer and was delighted by the results. The models have just the right amount of detail, flat surfaces, and texture for contrast paints to work exceptionally well across most of the models. Iplan to use some traditional acrylic paints for miniatures to finish the details, mostly because I enjoyed painting them so much. We know for sure there will be future releases from the entire Star Wars timeline but it’s clear from getting a few games in that Shatterpoint does not play like the Original Trilogy.

Often, shatterpoints existed for only brief moments, as they could be affected by even the smallest actions. [5] Shatterpoints could also be discovered in the physiology of living beings. Cade Skywalker was able to perceive shatterpoints in Darth Talon and Nyna Calixte, whom he had previously healed from mortal injury. By focusing through the Force on where the healing had taken place, Skywalker was able to see where her old wounds were, and reopen them. [6] The game also features releases from the original trilogy, such as Leia, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, but it does have a unique focus on the animated side of the Star Wars Universe. Gar Saxon, Merciless Commander takes the role of the Mandalorian Super Commando Secondary and leads his Supporting Mandalorian Super Commandos into battle.I’ve had Anakin Skywalker batter Darth Maul the length of a walkway, then vault off and onto an objective held bya swarm of battle droids; seen Darth Maul rip Captain Rex off a gantry with the force to shove a Lightsaber down his throat; sent Mandalorians jetboosting out of combat to grab objectives; had B6 battle droids shoot into Anakin Skywalker, only to suffer more damage than they inflicted as he deflected their shots.
