About this deal

I found his life story interesting, yes he swears a lot but while that doesn't particularly bother me it's also lazy and he could have cut the "C word" count in particular quite a lot.

It’s a book about mindfulness, it’s a book about how people can turn their lives around even when the chips are down, it’s a book about following your dreams and most of all, it’s a bloody good read. There's a bit of name-dropping and the last 20% kind of limps along with random stream of consciousness observations that give the impression he was done with story but the publisher wanted more. This Book Bikers Life you must give it a read, you won't be disappointed, it's a Blast, come on get one now. A BIKER'S LIFE is the dramatic, humorous and candid memoir of one of the most recognisable names in motorcycling. In his new book, which is out next Thursday (17th September), Henry introduces the idea that a shed is a place to sit, a place to fettle and a place to stash, a spiritual refuge and a state of mind.Drawn in monochrome pencil on rough-textured paper, the broad, full-page and full-spread rural scenes give the encounter a shadowy, atmospheric setting. Henry Cole's passion for motorbikes began when, at the age of eight, he was first introduced to a 'man cave'. I find it hard when those in the biking fraternity are negative and rude about Henry Cole, especially when he has done so much in promoting motorcycling, and done it with humour and including the genius of Sam Lovegrove and Allen Millyard. The short time we owned a motorbike and side car make Henry's love of this mode of transport totally understandable.

On television he is best known for World’s Greatest Motorcycle Rides, The Motorbike Show, Shed and Buried, and Find It, Fix It, Flog It. Rather than mention this to the (seemingly) oblivious adults in her extended family or, later, to the hunters who come by with a reward poster, she courageously ventures out by herself, carrying small gifts of food. From the beloved illustrator and author of A Nest for Celeste comes Brambleheart, a beautiful tale about nature, imagination, and how love is the greatest thing we build.

His career spans 32 years and he has also been involved in producing - he has his own television production company, HCA Entertainment, which produces for broadcasters including ITV, Channel 4, Sky 1 and more. Gorgeously rendered in soft, dark pencils, this wordless book is reminiscent of the naturalistic pencil artistry of Maurice Sendak and Brian Selznick, but unique in its accurate re-creation of a Civil War-era farm in northwestern Virginia. Loved every page of this well written, very readable book - a great insight into all things bike but also one man’s fascinating journey from outsider despair to finding happiness by doing what he loves.

Henry Cole has written and illustrated more than 150 books for children, including Spot, the Cat; And Tango Makes Three; Oink? In Henry Cole’s beautifully illustrated sequel to Brambleheart, reminiscent of Brian Jacques’s Redwall and Avi’s Poppy series, Twig’s fantastical adventures continue as he and his animal friends set sail to reunite Char with his dragon family.

In 2013 Henry Cole set a world land speed record for a pre-1955 750cc motorcycle, riding a Brough Superior on the Bonneville Salt Flats. From construction to maintenance, from foundations to roof to damp-proofing in between (“nobody wants rusty nuts”), here is all the practical information you need to start your own shed odyssey, delivered in Henry’s inimitable style. I know I'm not alone in wanting to have my kids around, not tucked away in their bedrooms, and that means the kid’s stuff is around too. In a ruminative afterword, Cole reflects on his Virginia family’s own connections to the war and, though silent about the signal quilt he hangs on the farmyard’s fence in the illustrations, explains the significance of the Big Dipper visible in the nighttime sky. If he's the type who has led a fairly mainstream life, bought a bike because every other middle-aged bod now has one, thinks Sons Of Anarchy is gritty and breaks out his highly polished machine and the tussled jacket when the sun's out and there's not a cloud in the sky he probably won't get it and possibly might feel personally affronted by our Henry's words of wisdom.
