About this deal

City girl Calla Fletcher flies out to Alaska to reconnect with her estranged father Wren after learning that his days are numbered. But when it comes time to leave the beautiful state behind, Calla finds herself pulled in two different directions: one pushing her to the bustling city of Toronto and the other to the brutally honest, rugged Alaskan pilot Jonah. Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

We hadn’t even had time to get their rooms ready when the call came. Three-year-old Bridget and her brand-new baby sister, Gillian. We need to be done with the idea that bubbly women are stupid and helpless women. I can't relate to female characters like that. Have you ever met a woman? In what world would a woman not know what to do in a crisis situation?!

Hobbies

She released my belt and took me by the hand, leading me into the living room, where our wedding portrait hung above the fireplace. It still hit me in the chest every time I looked at it. Naomi—breathtaking and blushing in her gown, the daisies woven into her hair like a crown. She had her arm around Waylay, who had insisted on a floor-length lemon-yellow gown and daisies of her own. They both were laughing. As for me? I looked pretty damn good in my suit. And pretty damn happy as I looked after my wife and daughter. She cries to a complete stranger and asks him: please, help me, what should I do? 5 times in the first two chapters. The fact that a 40 year old man finds a broken shell of a woman attractive is a red flag of its own. I didn’t tell anyone anything specific,” she said. “But I did tell them we had big news to share today.”

Lucian and Sloane were by far the most anticipated couple to read about, and their story certainly did not disappoint. Some popular tropes used in this book are enemies-to-lovers, small-town romance, and childhood love. (Revealing more tropes may spoil the plot!)

the last point I’m gonna make but not necessarily the last thing that troubled me in this book, is that the heroine’s niece wasn’t given the proper story act that she needed. That was a child that was abandoned and she definitely had issues because of it - it’s just not possible otherwise and yet it felt like that whole situation was just used to give us an intro into the story but it wasn’t explored with the respect and dedication it needed to be. I actually would have loved to see that part play out, and I thought it was going to after reading the synopsis- but instead this veered into completely different grounds. Am I intruding?” He looked good. Healthy. Steady. All of which still managed to surprise me every time I saw him.

Naomi and Knox have an interesting meet cute. When Naomi rolls into town with daisies in her hair she doesn’t expect the welcome she gets. See, her twin sister who is basically a menace to the town, asks for her help. When Naomi shows, she is, of course, mistaken for the twin. That lasts for a bit but ultimately she carves her own place out in town, along with her niece who she’s taking care of. Unfortunately for Naomi, her conniving twin sister, Tina, remains unchanged. After absconding with Naomi's car and money, Tina leaves her with an unexpected responsibility—a niece Naomi never knew she had. Now stranded in town without a car, job, plan, or home, Naomi must care for an 11-year-old who possesses the maturity of someone well beyond her years. this book is an abomination and deserves to be burned, so embarrassed i wasted my time reading this Sloane was feeding the baby a bottle while Bridget sat in the center of the table, eating a bowl of cut-up grapes. My daughters were surrounded with love and strong, smart women.

Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. Naomi and Knox are immediately attracted to one another but dance around their magnetism, as neither is looking for or desiring a relationship. As the story progresses, however, their connection is undeniable and they soon throw out all the rules they’ve set in place. Grumpy, small-town barber + hopelessly romantic runaway bride = great big bust ups, all the tension and lots of steamy encounters! here’s how I picture Knox… you know that guy on TikTok with the axe who breaks apart those tree trunks??? THAT MAN???? In my head, that’s him 🤪 (If you don’t like fan casting, then just forget I said anything 😐)

Score does a beautiful job describing the characters, the setting, and the feelings of those involved. I feel that reading her books is a very immersive experience. The heroine, I liked her, but I would have loved to see her more settled into her own and knowing exactly who she is and what she wants by the end of the book. She does make some decisions but I still feel like she lets the events that happened to her and the people in her life derail most of her individual and personal decisions. For a spicy romance novel, I feel the last quarter of Things We Never Got Over was a bit of a reach as it attempted to cross the line into thriller territory. While I understand the story needed more depth, I am unsure if this plot twist really worked. It felt a bit forced. I enjoyed Things We Hide From the Light more than the first installment in this series. Nash and Lina are an interesting couple and Score does a wonderful job developing them. After reading two of her books, I see a trend here: the character development of her main characters is excellent.Coffee was this girl's ENTIRE personality for most of the book. I don't mind characters having an obsession with a food or drink, but when it's ALL they talk about, think about, or go get, it's ANNOYING.
