About this deal

However, this book was written less so about the life of a hitman and more of as a therapeutic session to resolve trauma. I did not enjoy the writing style because it felt it had not been proofread as well as it could have and the descriptions of some of the 'jobs' were too vague and although it was based on real life I was not impacted or thrilled by much of it. Also, a lot of repetition about making hits look like a suicide/accident (was constant) and random revelations, e.g. who his father was! So I just recently finished a book titled, I Am A Hitman: The Real-Life Confessions of a Contract Killer. What is truly unbelievable is not the stories of murder and crime, but the fact that this book got published at all.

Contract killingis a form of murder, in which one party hires another party to kill a target individual or group of people. It involves an illegal agreementbetween two parties in which one party agrees to kill the target in exchange for consideration, monetary, or otherwise. The hiring party may be a single person, a group of people, a company, or any other kind of organization. The hired party may also be one person, such as a hitman, or a group of people, or an organization. [1]“As someone who has majored in psychology, from a psychological perspective this book was an interesting read. In terms of the path to becoming a hitman and how the author's life events and childhood traumas lead him up to becoming a hitman it was understandable and even evoked some sympathy from me that someone could be treated so cruelly from a young age. Resources online are scant when it comes to becoming a hitman. Maybe not all that surprising – we’re pretty sure that those who have made it in that business are far too busy keeping their heads under the radar and their silhouette off of ridges to write articles online. That being said, we’ve written about it before – here, and there are a few other exaples out there. There are things that don’t tally with UK reality - sneaking into morgues and extended stays in custody because they can’t find a magistrate etc. Things that might have been true in the 60s, 70s, or 80s but not much later. However, many of these things are explainable by the deliberate misrepresentation of time and locale to avoid identification. Which, you know, if he did off all these people at the behest of variously powerful people, then yeah I can see swapping an American life for a British one and the 70s for the 90s. The best resource, however, seems to be the 1983 book“Hit Man – A Technical Manual for Independent Contractors”. The book’s origin is somewhat disputed, and the prevailing opinion these days is that it was written by a bored housewife with a great imagination. The book is actually in the public domain, after the publisher was forced to give up the rights to it as a settlement in court. Apparently, someone had actually used the book as a manual for becoming a hitman. The person in question wasn’t smart enough to not get caught, however. The book reads like a 23-year-old Reddit user's fanfiction of the Hitman game franchise. The setup is just nonsensical, and even if you take it as fiction (which you have to), you just can't suspend your disbelief to go along with it. The geography of certain countries is not correct, the politics of regions is not correct, procedures involving police/agencies is not correct. The premise of how the author got into the 'killing game' is not believable in the slightest, and the way in which the author 'progresses' through the industry is just lazy and poorly imagined/fleshed out.

Murder, Inc.(or Murder Incorporatedor the Brownsville Boys; known in syndicate circles as The Combination) was the name given by the pressto organized crimegroups in the 1920s through the 1940s that resulted in hundreds of murders on behalf of the American Mafiaand Jewish Mafiagroups who together formed the early organized crime groups in New York and elsewhere. The name was a journalistic invention. In his biography The Valachi Papers, Mafia turncoat Joe Valachiinsisted Murder, Inc. did not commit crimes for the Mafia.” Some parts really irked me - such as calling his accomplice H (gave me real James Bond vibes which isn’t great for something that is trying to convince me it’s a true story). Some of the lines were also super corny (a key example is when he mentioned how “the movies didn’t lie to you”. Please just stop.) I did enjoy the book, despite it being very vague about the details of the actual contract assassinations (because of course that's what grabs the attention when you see it on the shelves in Tesco), because it was well written, fast paced, and has a feeling of honesty about it. Although at many points I was rolling my eyes, I still didn’t want to abandon it and did see it through til the end, because parts were interesting and well written.

The author's depiction of the 'hits' are flat-out hilarious and nonsensical that I laughed out loud multiple times during the setups. Pretty much 80% of the hits follow this formula:

dont do that sort of job longer than 6 jears. it highly lowers the chance of you ending up in jail or get found dead in some shitty ass appartement somewhere in bangkok;) However, if you read this like a fiction, it’s not too bad. It’s not grisly and graphic and recounts with an eerily detached nature about some of the hits carried out by the protagonist, his childhood, and his ongoing problems with his wife, who plays a key role in the story. The writing style goes between overly formal and very casual, so that it's pretty clear it's not written in a genuine 'voice'. The writing is also clumsy, and riddled with cliche phrases and tropes that make you very aware you are reading amateur crime fanfiction. It's repetitive and contrived with sections with the author's wife, and the way they interact makes no sense and is completely unbelievable.Regarding his life of crime, sometimes the coincidences are too strong to just brush aside and you’re left wondering how much of this is true. You get the feeling that any detective with a serious desire to find this person could do so, since there are so many personal clues to who this man could be, but it’s wise to assume some of the details were changed for that reason. corruption is wide spread and almost anyone is buyable or has a pressure point (one of the reasons you need good intel) ACCIDENT SERVICES: Explosions, arson and intimidation actions. Also, Including production sabotage and destruction of objects of your competitors without obvious signs of intentional destruction.

What an intriguing concept for a book! With every account based on true events, it was certainly an interesting read. Stories, experiences and ‘hits’ told from the hitmans mouth himself, with names, locations and identifying features removed to protect his identity as well as those of his victims.Let’s just point out right away that becoming a hitman is a bad idea. Killing people is bad, killing people for money is worse. So there. Here’re the why and why not’s. It's a bit of a 'light' read (although the subject matter isn't!), and probably the shortest book I've read for some time. From the outset, its discouraging those wanting to follow in his footsteps or use this as a ‘manual’. There’s no gory, blow by blow retelling (if you’re expecting this, you’ve come to the wrong book), but instead, is a recounting and retelling of his life and those he’s killed (which is done with a surprising amount of sensitivity).
