About this deal

I actually found your previous comment and this one to be very well-written and insightful; I find it is often a yin/yang thing when it comes to evaluating the choices made by signficant others in our lives, so your perception regarding your family rings oh-so-true to me. Geez, not a month goes by that I’m not adding to my blu and dvd collection. Have been buying 4K UHD disks when a deal happens, as I have a player but not a TV capable of displaying, as a way of future-proofing on important films that I know I’ll always revisit and I think will benefit from the visual upgrade. There are five episodes that have deleted or extended scenes, found on the disc with the corresponding episode. By far the most interesting are from episode 109 “All Those Who Wander,” with quite a bit ending up by the wayside, including a couple of scenes that I think should have been left in.

In a particularly soapy scene, Captain Pike, disgusted with what’s learned, tells Alora he wants to report what’s going on there to Starfleet and prepares to leave. She reminds him they’re not part of the Federation, and implores him to stay, that they had something special between them. Hemmer and Uhura down in Peregrine’s engineering see a baby Gorn feeding on entrails, who turns towards them and Hemmer takes the venom that was heading for Uhura. As I recall, kmart part of a significant cinematic magazine, that like many, didn’t survive impact of the internet on advertising and subscriptions. I hope I didn’t sound unkind or unsympathetic speaking about my parent’s experience. I’ve been going through a period of reflection on their career as I move on in my own. Windows Media Player won’t even attempt to play it and VCL Media player won’t play it, just keeps giving errors.Bonus: TOS “Balance of Terror”– In a surprise bonus (as it wasn’t listed on any press release), CBS has included the 2006 remastered version of the classic Star Trek episode “Balance of Terror.” This is a fitting extra, of course, as episode 110 (“A Quality of Mercy”) relies heavily on the events and even dialogue from the original episode.

The Gag Reel (2:47) is pretty fun! Gag reels are certainly hit-and-miss, but honestly, this one was a bit of a hit. It certainly solidifies the well-known fact that this is a very fun cast; they are absolutely enjoying every part of this. Even Mount seems a little pleased with himself for continuing the Trek tradition of walking right into a sliding door. Celia Rose Gooding’s gaffes are a complete delight as well, as are a few moments of full cast silliness and pranks. A moment from “Balance of Terror,” and a similar one in “A Quality of Mercy.” (CBS Home Entertainment)Exploring New Worlds (53:58) is an interesting, if textbook, run-through of the making of Strange New Worlds Season 1. It has a lot of interesting factoids and titbits, from the show’s inception as a misunderstanding on Akiva Goldsman’s part (he originally believed Discovery was going to be a Pike-centered prequel) through to the stylistic camera choices of “A Quality of Mercy”— b ut very little of it is very ground-breaking. It is, however, very charming, and a nice insight into the devotion of the actors and production staff to their craft. Exploring New Worlds– Fans will explore the storylines and characters that bring Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to life with writers, cast and crew. I’m not saying it can’t work, just that you are making a sacrifice. Roger Deakins shot SKYFALL on Alexa even though he knew there’d be a 4K finish. But that’s Deakins. He also told me he refused to use the Imax codec for that particlar release version, so there’s something to be said for individual taste over a massmind solution. Uhura comes home to her quarters and her roommates ask her if anything weird is going on since she’s up on the bridge she must know, she just wants to go to bed. In a very welcome surprise, the upcoming home media release of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will include a version on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, the first UHD Blu-ray release for any Star Trek TV show. We also have news on the expected upcoming release of the Next Generation movies on 4K UHD. Strange New 4K Release
