About this deal

Unreliable Narrator: There are multiple POV characters, each of whom carry their own opinions and biases and apply it to how they view situations. Princess Cleo and vengeful Jonas lead them, slaying with sweetness, skill, and a secret that can control Lucia’s overpowering magic - all so they can use the Kindred to win back their fallen kingdoms. Watchers are immortal sorcerers who dwell in the Sanctuary, a protected enclave beyond the mortal world. Mêlée à Trois: The seemingly-straightforward rebellion against King Gaius becomes more complicated once the Kraeshian Empire and the Kindred get involved. She is the princess of Auranos, who witnessed a terrible attack caused by the boy she is promised to marry.

Royals Who Actually Do Something: The Limeros royal family are all accomplished warriors or spell-casters, save Queen Althea, who show no qualm about getting their hands dirty. He wasn’t my favourite character but it was interesting watching his whole viewpoint change throughout and by the end he becomes a more mature character. Brion has a crush on Lysandra, who has a crush on Jonas, who likes her but also has a crush on Cleo, who likes him too, but also develops feelings for Magnus.Though it is a fairly simple idea behind the book, three kingdoms at the brink of war and having in each kingdom several story lines that mingle and confront each other, there was also a great world building from the start.

Lucia is the weakest link at the moment, she is largely clueless but has the potential to be the most powerful, I hope she gets more development in the next book. Cleo’s allies hate him, and as far as they know, Cleo still hates him too; revealing otherwise might upset the very delicate balance in their unstable Enemy Mine situation, so in public they both act like things haven’t changed. The stakes have never been higher for Magnus and Cleo, who are brought together by a life or death decision that will lock their fates and change the course of the kingdom forever. The prologue of Falling Kingdoms took off interestingly showing already quite the display of magic, betrayal and producing an nice entryway into the book. She was stolen from her cradle by a pair of witches who sought to raise the child whom they believed would be the most powerful sorceress the three Mytican kingdoms have ever known. Eirene tells Cleo and Nic about Eva, a powerful Watcher and sorceress who wore a ring that gave her the power to touch the Kindred and not be corrupted. Later on, fear of this trope is what causes Magnus to stop having sex with Cleo, since he believes she’s cursed to die in childbirth. Every chapter ends on a cliffhanger and every character has such a depth that you can’t not read on.

Though this aspect of the book was not fleshed out, I’m happy knowing there’s five more volumes to develop it. She bore his child, but her elder sisters were jealous and they threatened the child’s life if Eva did not surrender, to them, the all-powerful Kindred. It was from the start quite noticeable that there was a strong aiming at the for the younger audience. but they can’t agree on the best way to do it, and their leadership fractures once Lysandra and her brashness enter the picture. If they're not careful, though, they can seriously hurt themselves, and even Lucia, a sorceress, knocks herself into a coma when she overexerts herself.Fallen Angel: The "goddesses" Valoria and Cleiona were actually Watchers who betrayed and murdered their third sister to steal the Kindred for themselves. Heir: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, firstborn son Magnus begins to realize that the heart can be more lethal than the sword….
