To find you the best baby carrier of the year, we tested out 11 new models and 4 updated models. We carried infants from 4 weeks to 11 months old, and toddlers from 12 to 30 months. But which ones are the best!?Kate: Compared to other products I have used, this carrier is a bit bulkier and heavy. This would be expected in this carrier as it has lots of additional features compared to other carriers I have used. Perhaps the addition of a bag to put the carrier in might help make it feel smaller and more compact as I feel it currently takes up a lot of room when placed in the bottom of the pushchair for days out. Has that contoured, close to baby hugging feel of a wrap carrier but with the ergonomic support and ease of a structured carrier. The Stokke was very complicated, I took it home in hopes that having enough adjustable straps would ensure that I could make it fit, I just needed to figure it out right? Nope, no matter how I adjusted it, the shoulder straps put awkward strain on both my husband and I, the straps should have sat flat but once the baby was in it pulled away. The carrier was incredibly time consuming to get on–but you can do a lot of adjustments before you put the baby on you. The carabiners that hook on were cumbersome, annoying and truly just for show, a simpler snap/hook could have done the same thing and not been in the way (plus I imagine that hunk of metal near the baby’s hands/head could get hot in the sun!). I wanted so much to like their carrier, but after a few weeks I had to return it. Babies love being held close to mom or dad, feeling the warm comfort of their chest and the gentle rhythm of their breathing and heartbeat. But unless you're Ronda Rousey or Mark Wahlberg, your arms and shoulders are going to get very tired from lugging around a growing baby all day. That's where baby wraps and slings and soft-structured baby carriers come in!

So, my first impression was that this carrier is pretty similar to a Gemini. The seat base is a bit wider, and the panel is a little taller, but the fit is similar. My baby jusssst fit without the infant insert, but we may use it for a few more weeks to be on the safe side. Full disclosure: Some of these carriers, including the Contours, Beco, Ergobaby, and Moby models, were sent to us as free test samples by the manufacturer.I love my BECO carriers! This 8 is by far the most comfortable carrier I've used. If you are choosing between this and the ergobaby, I'd go with this hands down. The cross straps make a huge difference for me.

The Ergo fit low on me despite many adjustments and just felt odd, additionally it only goes up to 33lbs which I worried would leave me with a short usage period. It did have a easy conversion to forward facing out, but to me it seemed like the fabric was pinching the baby’s legs a bit I love the zip down panel feature. I took baby girl for a walk today and it was in the 70s and very sunny, and she didn’t sweat at all. The carrier felt like it would be pretty warm with the panel zipped up, which will be nice for when we visit family in Michigan. The hood worked pretty well to keep the sun off her head.

Count on Comfort: A zippable, ventilated 3D mesh panel makes this an excellent baby chest carrier for all seasons! Made from durable polycotton, the infant carrier for newborns and toddlers is super supportive yet soft on baby's skin. Some carriers look great, feel great, and are super comfortable and reliable, but are a total pain in the butt to put on, take off, or adjust. Carriers have come a long way in terms of convenience and ease of use, but some are still quite poor in this regard. Baby Carrier Comfort & Breathability Fiona: As a mum to a 12 week old and a 2-year-old, I valued having my hands free to allow me to tend to the toddler. It has also been invaluable when out and about. We live in a rural area, and some of our paths are not pram friendly. Our baby always felt safe and secure. We have also used it on a few occasions to get our baby to sleep, and she seems to love it and appears comfortable.

Specifically, while ring slings can be very comfortable and safe when used correctly (and with the appropriate baby ages and sizes), there have been some cases of misuse and negligence.
