About this deal

Last week, I decided to take these Adventure Medical Kits Moleskin Blister Dressings on my hiking trip, and I found them to be a game-changer. With 22 die-cut moleskin pieces per sheet, they’re designed to fit various blister areas, and their pre-cut shapes and sizes made it easy to apply as soon as I felt friction on the trail. Apply a non-adhesive island dressing (NOT a ‘Compeed’ type dressings). Ensure that the blister is covered by the non-adhesive part of the dressing. Anything with a high water content and is occlusive at the same time (which Glacier Gel is) has the potential to macerate the skin. While they are are only 50% water unlike Spenco's moist pads which are 95% water, maceration is still likely on injured skin.

Hydrocolloid dressing come in all sorts of sizes and shapes, however, all of them treat open wounds/ blisters. Choosing the correct size for your blister is most important as it should cover the blister and a good section of the surrounding skin to attach onto. The larger blisters need a bigger hydrocolloid especially when located on the front of the shin or top of the foot, whereas the toes and side of the foot favour the smaller dressings. They can be cut to size with sterile scissors, which we provide in all our blister kits.

The kit comes with comprehensive professional instructions designed by us so you will know which stage of the blister you are treating and what dressing to use. KT tape can be used for blister prevention and also for sprains and strains, which can often happen during strenuous activity.

They look like island dressings but they're not. The central island is not there to absorb blister fluids - it's non-absorbent. I think this is confusing, and the comments in the video magnify this misinformation. I’ll be real with you, I don’t do every outdoor activity. But, who does? I’m just a regular person who loves exploring the planet. Perfectionism is my enemy and I hope to help you ditch that vibe too. After a long day of hiking, I recently tried these All Health Extreme Hydrocolloid Gel Blister Cushion Bandages on a couple of blisters I developed on my heels. The cushioning and protection provided by the hydrocolloid gel adhesive were impressive, greatly reducing the friction and rubbing that caused my blisters in the first place. I was able to continue hiking comfortably for multiple days with these bandages on.Break in your new hiking footwear: Before embarking on a long hike, make sure you break in your new shoes or boots by wearing them on shorter walks. This will help your feet get accustomed to the new footwear, preventing blisters from forming. Note: some hiking boots, like solid leather hiking boots, will take longer to break in than softer hiking shoes, so plan in advance. Surprisingly, my time spent in the U.S. Navy really helped me learn how to take care of my feet (even more than my physical therapy graduate degree). Better, but still wildly inadequate. Having said that, I do prefer the "hydrogel pads" of this kit to the "moist pads" of Spenco's kit. They are very good at absorbing shear disortions, last a lot longer and aren't just 95% water. But, they won't absorb blister fluids so can't be used over an already-formed blister. This kit needs some island dressings at the very least. Where To Buy

These pre-cut moleskin blister dressings can make a significant difference in your hiking comfort and enjoyment. Durable - 97% cotton and 3% nylon: comfortable yet stands up against the rubbing and friction that causes blisters Ultimately, we used guidance from our experts along with our own findings to create our final list of recommendations. Epitact gel ovals and the gel digit- tubes are silicon-based gel, which can be placed straight onto unbroken skin to prevent blisters or over an island dressing if a blister has already formed. The wool is so soft, making it less itchy and irritating on the skin. It is free from dander and lanolin which are known to cause more commonly known allergic reactions. As a result of these properties, the wool stays cleaner for longer when compared to sheep or lamb's wool. What should Alpaca wool not be used on? First and foremost, we are podiatrists and as such, we see blisters on the feet daily, being in Whitby and located on the coast-coast walk, people get caught out in the middle of participating in this walk and we often see them in our clinic.
