About this deal

I honestly do not comprehend what other reviewers go complaining about, in terms of video quality, but I'll tell you what: this concert has never looked better. They may, however, long for more of Mercury himself than the brief video collages used to tide the Wembley crowd over during set changes that are included on the second disc. The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness was a benefit concert held on Easter Monday, 20 April 1992, at Wembley Stadium in London, England, for an audience of 72,000. Queen and Bowie never performed the song together live so this was a first time thing but you wouldn't have guessed it. Being the well known piano player he is, I was a bit miffed that he played the wrong notes at the song's beginning.

This version excludes Extreme's "Love of My Life" and "More Than Words", Def Leppard's "Animal" and "Let's Get Rocked", Spinal Tap, U2 and Mango Groove from the opening acts segment of the show, and Robert Plant's "Innuendo" from the Queen+ segment of the show. There are so many great moments the ease by which you can select a particular track make the purchase of the Blu Ray worth it. Assuming the concert was filmed on tape, as opposed to digitally, which would have been standard at the time, this could be rescanned in HD. The concert was produced for television by Ray Burdis, directed by David Mallet and broadcast live on television and radio to 76 countries around the world, with an audience of up to one billion. A 22 page booklet is included featuring various pictures of the concert, rehearsals and facts about the tribute.Extras: Language(s): English, Subtitles: (Documentary only) English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Animated Menu, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, Screen ratio 1:1. million books, saving over 12,500 metric tonnes of books a year from going straight into landfill sites. In any case the concert is great, wonderful to relive it, however as I suspected, it is not complete. Some, indeed, went too far, with Cherone, for example, turning in a hyperactive display during "Hammer to Fall. Sadly it all goes downhill from there as Axl Rose frightens young children again with his shrill "singing". Also this is upscaled SD, not true HD, and this is shown by the fact that there is a 3 disc DVD version and 1 disc BR version. Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert - 1992-04-20 - London, UK (FM broadcast FLAC) Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert - Concert For AIDS Awareness. Sound quality is very good with a DTS Hi-Res format that I have not seen/heard before but it comes across well with a good, punchy, soundtrack. In the hour-long documentary accompanying the 105-minute concert on this double DVD released to mark the concert's tenth anniversary, Plant notes that none of the performers could sing Queen's songs as well as Mercury -- and in the right keys -- but they often provide interesting glosses on those songs, making this a valuable document for Queen fans, apart from the charity aspect. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. The most affecting moments were with Brian May, with his solo delivered, moving farewell song "Too Much Love Will Kill You". Soul singer Lisa Stansfield strolled on stage with curlers in her hair and vaccum in hand (an obvious nod to the song's campy music video where the band infamously dressed in drag.

The AIDS charity concert staged by the surviving members of Queen on April 20, 1992, at Wembley Stadium was an appropriate send-off for the band's late lead singer, Freddie Mercury, who had succumbed to the disease five months earlier. Queen were joined by some of the greatest musical talent in the world to celebrate Freddie s life and work and to increase public awareness of AIDS, the disease that had prematurely ended his life the previous year. Between the two versions released and home recordings I'm sure it's not that difficult for someone to make a 'complete' version. Again, Elton somewhat croaks through the song and the chorus sounds a bit weak but May's soaring solo saves it from being just average. When tickets finally went on sale, all 72,000 tickets sold out in just three hours, even though no performers were announced apart from the remaining members of Queen. I am looking forward to finally getting this, and reliving one of the best concerts ever, however I am willing to bet it is not the "full" experience. I was lucky enough to be at the event all those years back (as well as the last Wembley concert and Knebworth) and dearly wish the producers at the time had the foresight to film this with 35mm cameras so we could enjoy the full spectacle in HD but, alas, this was not to be. After comparing it to the full screen VHS release, I found very little was masked, the DVD was framed *very* well. Note that the image is presented 4:3 or square in shape and is actually formatted so that the usual 'wide' setting on your TV is negated so you will have to resort to zoom (bad!
