About this deal

Electric blankets should also be replaced if the fabric is worn or frayed, wires are poking through or the electrical cord is damaged, say the London Fire Brigade. Can you wash an electric blanket? The remote controls feel high quality, and function-wise, there are a ton of functions: dual control, separate zones for the body and feet, nine heat settings and four timer settings. Featuring nine heat settings and a useful climate zone control, you can set your preferred temperature with Snuggledown's luxurious underblanket. It fits under your fitted sheet with elastic fittings. The single size has one controller while the double, king and super king sizes come with two controllers. There's also extra foot warmth which will help to keep your whole body toasty on very cold nights. It's just what you need when the temperature drops. This one also avoids a lot of the usual underblanket pitfalls: it’s big enough to cover most of the bed; the deep, elasticated skirt stops it riding up during the night; there’s no cold central zone between the two regions, and any wires are nicely unobtrusive. There’s a super-king size available and you can even wash it at 30˚C. The Homefront is a blanket with a mid-range price tag but one that works and feels like a high-end option. Electric blankets usually come in every bed size, from single up to super king. They range from basic designs with just a few temperature settings to luxe items of bedding with features such as timers, extra foot warmth and separate controls for each side of the bed (ideal if you feel the cold but your partner’s a warm sleeper – or vice versa).

Featuring nine heat settings, this luxurious single heated mattress topper will help adjust your temperature with its easy-to-use climate zone controls. You can use the digital controller for the ultimate personalisation - the blanket has zonal heating for separate body and foot warmth, making it the perfect way to find exactly the right temperature. A fairly standard design, with corner straps, three heat settings and made from a quilted polyester material (great if you find that the fleecy fabrics make you feel too clammy). If it’s high temperatures you’re after, it doesn’t get much toastier than this teddy fleece one from Dreamland – even level 3 out of 6 was warmer than most others we tested. Some might find it a little too sweaty, but it can also be reversed, and the polyester side used in warmer months. There are only three temperature settings, but level two was comfortable on milder nights, while level three was nice and toasty, and it heated up well in half an hour. We would have liked timer and auto shut-off functions, although it does come with ‘overheat protection’.We loved its super-speedy five-minute warm-up time (by the time you’ve cleaned your teeth, it’ll be ready to go), well-positioned cord connection and good cable length, and three timers: one, three and nine hours. It also fitted perfectly flat on the bed, with elastic straps to loop around the mattress. Ensure the product is completely dry before use. Before washing, disconnect the heat controller from the electric blanket. This product is not suitable for children under 3 years old. The idea of waking up in the middle of the night on fire isn’t exactly going to (excuse the pun) warm you to the idea of buying an electric blanket, and so many people are put off buying one due to safety concerns. However, electric blankets are perfectly safe as long as you buy from a respected brand and retailer. For the comfortable, perfect heat and a well-thought-out design, this one gets five stars from us. The only downside is the high price.

Key specs – Type: Polycotton mattress cover blanket; Heat settings: 9; Controls: Single/dual; Off timer: Yes; Dual settings: On double, king; Safety: Overheat protection; Dimensions: 90 x 190cm (single), 135 x 190cm (double), 150 x 200cm (king) All blankets have a range of heat settings, but the number might vary from three to 12. More advanced blankets might even have different settings for different zones, so you can have additional heat for your feet or different heat levels for the two sides of a double bed. What other things should I look out for? The zipped cotton cover can be easily detached from the electric blanket for washing - simply disconnect the heat controller and ensure the cover is completely dry before using. Relax, as this single electric blanket from Snuggledown has low energy consumption too: costing the same to run as a 100-watt lightbulb, it’s an efficient way to be comfortably cosy at bedtime without heating the rest of the house. Plus, it features a safety system with timer and auto shut off for your peace of mind. Snuggledown Topper Features:Care instructions - Cover and heat pad: machine washable at 40°C. Do not iron. Tumble dry on a low setting How much money one costs to run depends on a number of factors, including what setting you have it on for, what its wattage is and what the current rate for electricity is. Material: Teddy fleece Number of temperature settings: 3 Guarantee: 1 year Where to buy electric blankets in the UK What’s more, the generous padding and 180-thread cotton count cover give you a luxury feel even when the heating’s off. Put it all together and you’ve got a terrific topper for the cold months, but one you might want to keep in place the whole all year round. Pros: Dual control, tactile control buttons, stays warm for a while, overheat protection and safe for all-night use

There’s dual control for each side of the bed on sizes double and up, and you can set different temperatures for your body and feet areas, with the heat settings from 1-9. We didn’t notice an auto shut-off function but you can set it on a timer, between 1-9 hours. null Disappointing Wasn’t impressed with the level of heat at all. Good that there are settings 1 to 10, but very poor quality of heat is transmitted . All electric blankets warm your bed, but they differ in how long they take to heat up and how much control you have over the temperature. Some take under five minutes to warm up, while others take substantially longer. That’s not necessarily a problem if your blanket has a timer and your bedtimes are regular, but it’s worth thinking about.Liz Lavery Low Heat from this "heated throw" I am very disappointed with this product as no matter how long I leave it on for at the high setting it does not heat my bed to any satisfaction. It may be a safety feature but overall poor product With elastic straps, this fits well over the bed, lying flat over it all except the head area (worth noting if you want a blanket that covers every inch of the mattress). Unlike electric throws, which are designed to be laid on top of the bed or snuggled up with on the sofa, electric blankets lay flat on your bed underneath your sheet. They contain lots of thin wires inside the fabric; the blanket is then connected to the mains electricity to gently heat up the entire bed. null Heated Over Blanket Great quality blanket bought it as a present as I already have one and love it. Fab price as well Pros: Wireless, uses infra-red technology so no heat is lost, looks great, useful if working from home
