About this deal
The Fillo's stuff sack is too small, making it more difficult than necessary to pack this pillow up. This pillow's stuff sack is rather small, though, which made it more difficult to get the pillow inside. We do like the fact that its stuff sack is attached to the pillow so it's easy to keep track of, but its smaller size makes it awkward to roll up the pillow and fold it inside. The award-winning Fillo™ backpacking and camping pillow brings clever design to an often-overlooked piece of gear: the humble camp pillow. PS: Having used it now for two or more weeks, if you sleep on your side, this Fillo is not the best.
The pillow features a baffled internal air bladder that you inflate by mouth with a twist lock valve, and then a fabric cover over that with a thin layer of PrimaLoft insulation for comfort and a little warmth. In the end, the greatest distinguishing feature that placed the Fillo higher on our list was its sheer outstanding comfort. We designed the Fillo Elite with a layer of 100% post-consumer recycled Primaloft insulation, combined with a 3" I-beam baffled air cell and an ultra-soft jersey cover. I briefly contemplated trying it in June when I moved out to Utah but the weather window wasn't quite right (and my legs were shot from the White Rim). This is a little tricky, as the valve will immediately release all the air you just blew up the pillow with before you can close it unless you use two hands and twist it closed while inflating. Registration only takes effect after receipt of my confirmation; it is possible to unsubscribe at any time.
When you compare its weight against its overall comfort and size, it's clear why it's one of our favorite ultralight backpacking pillows. We also have some worry that the thin jersey fabric could be more susceptible to wear and tear over time in comparison to other face fabric options. Thankfully I answered as it was a river ranger saying I was next on the list for a late January launch - I was ecstatic!
