About this deal

We are an authorised dealer for Jiffy Products. Please be aware of cheap imitations, as the results you will get from them when growing and propagating will not be the same as the genuine article. Please Note: After another 4-6 weeks, plants will be outgrowing their pots and ready to move on. You can either pot into an intermediary 1 litre pot or they are ready for their final positions. Final pots should be 7 to 20 litres, depending on how much space you have. Again, using a free draining compost/coir mix, carefully pot on. Coir Pellets are compressed coir pellets are ideal for sowing seeds or for rooting cuttings. Add water to them and watch them swell to make the ideal growing medium (3.6cm in diameter). It is always best to sow seeds into individual pellets, so you don’t have to handle young delicate seedlings as it is so easy to damage them. Once large enough, pot up or plant out the plant and the pellet.

May need additional supplementation: You may find your plants short on calcium and magnesium when using coconut coir, so supplementing with “Cal-Mag” may be necessary. Other fertilizers will be necessary as well since coir has low NPK levels. To protect the sensitive roots make sure to completely cover the Jiffy-7 pellet in the flower bed, or pot that you are using when planting them. To guarantee the high quality standard of our products, we certify our product portfolio for organic use, biodegradability, quality, uniformity, etc. This way we help you to meet the requirements your products need in the field for organic production, sustainability, biodegradability and quality. Can be less complex than “traditional hydroponics”: If growing hydroponically is new, coconut coir is a good first step. You can practice the basics of hydroponic gardening without having to buy or build a hydroponic system and perform all of its required maintenance. Downsides to Coco Coir

Coir pellets are incredibly space saving. You don’t have to store several different products in your garage to do the same job as this product. After correcting the coir with some additives, the plants went from strength to strength and have significantly outgrown the petunias I grew in regular compost. While many people say you need coco coir-specific nutrients, this isn’t absolutely necessary. You can get away with the standard General Hydroponics Flora series, a pH testing kit, and some Calimagic calcium + magnesium supplement. Then, they’re removed from the water bath and dried for over a year. After the drying process, which is quite extensive, the coir is organized into bales. These bales are then chopped and processed into various formats, from chips, to “croutons” to classic ground coconut coir. Jiffy pellets are extensively tested both internally and externally, in laboratories and research stations around the world. They are the best fit for most types of small plant. Peat pelletsRecords the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. Mixes can be expensive: Garden suppliers know that coco coir can be annoying to work with sometimes, so they’ve started to offer coconut coir mixes. This saves a lot of time but is pretty expensive — and making your own mix isn’t too difficult. Types of Coco Coir Good quality manufacturers should thoroughly flush the coco coir. If gardeners wish to use it as a growing medium, it should also be treated with a calcium, magnesium and iron solution, so the salts don’t create nutrient deficiencies in the plants, this process is called buffering. Sow the seed – Once the pellets are fully expanded, place 2 seeds in every pellet. The planting depth can be controlled by pinching or compacting the pellet. Be sure to label the tray for identification of seedlings. Use a clear, plastic lid or plastic wrap to retain moisture. Environmentally safe: Although I am a fan of using sphagnum peat moss in the garden, there’s no denying the environmental concerns that peat moss poses. Coconut coir doesn’t have the same problems. Unlike peat moss, which breaks down more rapidly, it can be used more than once. It’s also a repurposed waste product from a renewable resource, unlike the peat bogs where we get our peat moss.
