We bring you all the medallists from this year’s Champagne Masters, which drew attention to the quality of fizz from some lesser-known names in the region, and the excellence of one famous producer in particular.

The Champagne Masters is a competition created and run by the drinks business, and is an extension of its successful Masters series for grape varieties, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, as well as regions like Rioja and Tuscany. The competition is exclusively for Champagne, and the entries were judged using Schott Zwiesel Cru Classic glasses supplied by Sensible Wine Services. The top wines were awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze medals according to their result, and those expressions that stood out as being outstanding received the ultimate accolade – the title of Champagne Master.Champagne Pannier was founded in 1899 and its head office is situated in Château-Thierry, France. It is the largest champagne house in the western Marne Valley. Pannier's cuvées are supplied all over France by a network of representatives ( wine merchant, delicatessens, off-trade, B to B) and are exported to over twenty countries. These wines are distributed through traditional channels as well as duty-free. First class passengers on Virgin Atlantic, Eurostar and United Airlines are served Pannier champagne. Since 1997, the company received accreditation from the norms ISO and BRC. This framework is part of the ongoing policy of quality control. If you can feel the cork pushing to leave the bottle already, get a glass ready. Otherwise, with the bottle gripped in one hand, slowly pull up the cork with the other. It may be quite stiff at first – if so, alternate pulling and twisting motions – but as you go you'll start to feel the pressure from within helping you out. A skilful stonecutter carved an archer into the wall of one of these deep galleries. Make sure you have your glasses ready and within easy reach. Then, take your bottle and remove the foil; there should be a tag or perforation line to make this easy and neat.
