The Immerse Mk II represents the very best in pedal reverberation — with studio-quality algorithms, high-fidelity circuitry, heavy-duty components and construction — all in a small footprint. The Mk II is a monumental step forward and features completely-redesigned circuitry and upgraded algorithms. There’s a lot to go over here but I’ll keep it simple and focus on the more advanced features. Volume (how loud the wet signal is), Depth (how long the wet signal lasts), Type (which of the above reverbs to use), and Tone or Echo Time (Brightness or darkness of the wet signal or delay time of the echo setting).

Spring – The distinctive twerp of a tube-driven spring reverb. Now with adjustable modulation speed, it can achieve a vibrato-spring sound. Over the past few years his company has built a strong reputation for their multi-mode digital effects, in particular for their lush reverb and delay pedals, receiving especially high marks for their shimmer reverbs. Hall sounds similar but with a nicely judged pre-delay to keep the dry sound further out in front, and is equally luscious with a dash (or more than a dash) of modulation. Plate differs subtly again, adding some metallic density, and this time you can adjust the length of pre-delay. Inevitably, that’s at the expense of modulation – a minor compromise, but perhaps the first sign of the compact format’s limitations. The Hall is what the standard norm of hall is but just so realistic it is transporting. I use this more in live environments as it is more natural. Take the tone knob up to ¾’s and you really get a special psuedo-shimmer compliment without being as overwhelming as most shimmers.

A Raft of Reverbs What of the other settings on the immerse? The other algorithms on offer consist of the usual spring, hall and plate then some more unusual offerings; sustain, echo, detune and shimmer. The plate hall and spring are exactly what you would expect if you have ever used any other reverb. They are excellent algorithms and I find myself if not using the W3T using the hall for a wide cavernous reverb. I probably woulda set this up with all my effects up to the splitter like I am running into an amp, then I would reverb one side and DI each side, a stereo unit would work well

Other misc features are: Stereo in and out, Kill Dry Switch (externally accessible), Trails Switch (externally accessible). The Kill Dry is much more helpful than I anticipated. While it does have more practical uses for how you wire up your rig, I use it mainly to shape my reverb tone. The fact that this is external is brilliant. There are no favorite switches or taps and this will never plug into your PC for updates like their Expanse series. Hall – The lush, open sound of a concert hall, now with adjustable modulation depth for achieving deep modulated tones. Sustain – A new algorithm built on the W3T reverb. This magical, versatile effect can be configured as a sustainer or infinite reverb.The Immerse can do all of this in a box smaller than either of the two reverbs that it has replaced. The shimmer mode on the MK2 is as good if not better than the previous version. That being said, I don’t find myself using it on shimmer all that much. My favourite setting is the W3T algorithm Neaunabers flagship reverb. The main reason I prefer the Immerse over other reverbs that I have tried is the ease of use. The Specular sounded fantastic but was a pain to use. It does have pre sets, but I am more a set and forget kind of person. I don’t need lots of different pre sets, I play in my spare room. I can fiddle with the settings to my hearts desire.

Boasting an analogue dry-throughsignal path for low noise and zero latency, the Immerse MkII also sports a high-quality buffer to ensure that your signal remains strong and clear. Stereo outputs also let you take full advantage of the incredible reverbsoffered by the unit, so that you can achieve an ultra-wide wall of soundwhen using two amplifiers. Modes:The +detune mode is fun too. You have to crank the level significantly to bring the effect to the fore. But once you do, the almost queasy, pitch-shifting effect becomes a cool melodic tool. The only bummer is that you cannot control the intensity of the pitch shift. If it sounds good do it, just to be clear about that. Its RULE 1`of music and electronics takes a bak seat to music in my book, even if you are blowing up a vintage supro amp worth over a grand.
