As a soap substitute cleanser: Apply to skin, massage gently and rinse well. Alternatively use a warm flannel and rinse. Lotions are good for hairy or damaged areas of skin (such as weeping eczema – where pus is seeping out of damaged areas of skin). This is because lotions are thin and spread easily, but they're not very moisturising. Sprays Use a clean spoon or spatula to remove emollients from a pot or tub. Ovelle Emulsifying Ointment B.P. contains a preservative free blend of ingredients to hydrate and soften all skin types, especially dry skin. Formulated without fragrance or colours, it gently soothes as a moisturiser and cleanses as a soap substitute or bath additive. Often used for drugs new to market.Everyday soaps, shampoos and shower gels usually dry out the skin and can make skin conditions like eczema worse. Aqueous cream may be associated with skin reactions (stinging, burning, itching and redness) when used as a 'leave-on' emollient, often within 20 minutes of application, and especially in children with atopic eczema. Symptoms of accidental oral ingestion may include gastrointestinal symptoms, particularly diarrhoea and should be treated symptomatically.
