About this deal

At colorFabb we have always been active in developing new filaments for FDM/FFF 3D printing, like the first metal filled filament bronzeFill, the one of a kind nGen_LUX and the unique Color on Demand service where customers choose their own colors to print with. LW-PLA is our latest offering in an ever expanding portfolio. The main thing to consider is the dimensional accuracy of the resultant print due to its expanding properties. In general to hone your parts you should begin the optimisation process by printing a number of test cubes (e.g. our calibration cube ). You can then collect some information on expansion at different temperatures, speed and flow given your nozzle diameter. The four steps recommended by Colorfabb for this are: G-code files are provided for you to start with both 0.3mm and 0.4mm nozzle. If you have 0.4mm Nozzle, you may want to try G-code files for 0.3mm nozzle and see if the Nozzle still can print with acceptable quality. You may notice that the result will have 20% – 30% less weight with regular PLA or PLA+. LW-PLA filament can be printed with both 0.3mm and/or 0.4mm nozzle. Tom] used the process demonstrated in the video after the break to create the wing for his latest VTOL RC aircraft. It was printed with lightweight PLA, which can ooze badly when it stops extruding. To get around this, he designed the wings and their internal ribs to be printed in one continuously extruded line. PolyLight 1.0 is recommended especially for our LW Planes models designed to be printed in single-pass (vase) mode with reduced travel moves but used wisely it can also be used as a complement to the PolyAir to improve the wing loading of any of our models. For example, every gram saved on tail parts counts more than twice in the need to balance the model improving weight distribution. Cost-effective

Gluing pieces of PLA together is an art in itself. This process is underrated among those who are new to the process of 3D printing. Contrary to popular belief, joining 3D printed parts is at least as important as the printing process itself, especially if you are printing something that is larger than your printing bed. Control extruded volume of material by regulating printing temperature. At around 230C LW-PLA starts foaming and can increase its volume by nearly 3 times. Uživatelé mohou snížit průtok materiálu o 65 %, aby dosáhli lehčích dílů, nebo využít vlastností roztažnosti pro efektivní zkrácení doby tisku pomocí velkých výšek vrstev nebo jednotlivých mimořádně silných obvodů. Test print to confirm calculated values. Adjust the flow setting until the part has the strength you need.LW-PLA is the first filament of its kind using an active foaming technology to achieve lightweight, low density PLA parts. PLA LW filament has many benefits over other types of filaments. It is strong yet lightweight, making it ideal for small parts and intricate designs. It also has excellent layer adhesion with low shrinkage, so your prints will come out looking great every time. Plus, it's easy to print with and doesn't require any special equipment or settings. At very high temperature, active foaming can achieve lighter print than passive foaming however the print may suffer of serious stringing defects. Keep in mind if the pre-made files you bought have very different print speed or layer height values than what you’ve tested with our calibration file, the value for the flow percentage will deviate. It would be best to repeat the calibration file with the key settings such as speed and layer height exactly the same as set in the files you bought. Despite these significant advantages, there are elements that are cause for concern, if you do not take the necessary precautions when using acetone. It should only be used in ventilated areas, failing to heed this advice could result in dizziness. It is also highly flammable, so should not be used in near heat or open flames. There is also the danger of using too much acetone and burning through your filament.

The most important input variables for controlling the expansion are speed, temperature and flow. This allows users to vary the density of the material for different parts of the model. I've been using this filament for various decorative prints to be worn, and the weight reduction is a real advantage!” PolyLite™ LW-PLA is not an active foaming filament, which means it will not foam when extruded from the nozzle depending on the temperature. PolyLite™ LW-PLA is already pre-foamed.

The most popular printing material in the field of FDM 3D printing

At colorFabb material development never stops. We’re starting 2019 with a fascinating new material, first of its kind in FFF 3D printing materials.
