About this deal

For forensic expert Enzo Macleod, the key to this unsolved murder lies in decoding Petty's mysterious reviews - which could make or break a vineyard's reputation.

Enzo Macleod is determined to see if he can succeed where others have failed and, as a result of a possibly rather ill-advised bet, he has 2,000 Euros he can’t afford to lose riding on the outcome. In Extraordinary People, Enzo has made a bet that he can solve a long cold case, the disappearance of a prominent social and cultural figure some 10 years before. The lead character, a supposed genius with credentials as a forensic scientist-- acts like an idiotic buffoon. Interesting story of a cold case investigation, from clues left behind 20 years ago, solved with the combination of forensics, good old detective work and Google. He met the love of his life, and that lightning-strike moment has a tendency to create a before-and-after in most people’s lives who are fortunate enough to ever meet their soulmate. The sale of customised goods or perishable goods, sealed audio or video recordings, or software, which has been opened.

After a few false starts, Enzo is plagued with self-doubts as he and his companions/family become the targets. As well as a being a good mystery it is also full of interesting facts such as the catacombs, champagne ….Eventually the mystery is solved where it began – in the catacombs of Paris where the action and dangers accelerated to a resounding crescendo. This tiny isle off the coast of Brittany is the scene of a murder left shrouded in mystery and grief. There is none of the flashbacks that made up a good part of the Lewis books but there was still the rich descriptions of the country and history that seems to be Peter May's trademark.

very naive of me to think that a book set in Paris by a Brit would have similar themes running through it.The plot itself veers uncomfortably close to being overly contrived at times, a standard hallmark of anything that seems to involve solving clues and following a trail, but thankfully, Extraordinary People never entirely jumps the shark. Childeric was the son of King Merovee of the Franks, the first of the lineage, and supposedly a direct descendent of Mary Magdalene.
