About this deal

The story was straightforward enough. A person dies on a plane, one of the passengers must have done it. There were many complicated motives and possible solutions, but in the end Poirot manages to ignore all the distractions and focuses on what really matters.

Poirot talks to the stewards and finds out that there were two coffee spoons on Madame Morisot's table. The Sittaford Mystery - Why Didn't They Ask Evans? - And Then There Were None - Death Comes as the End - Sparkling Cyanide - Crooked House - They Came to Baghdad - Destination Unknown - The Pale Horse - Endless Night - Passenger to Frankfurt The Times Literary Supplement of 4 July 1935 summarised thus: "Any of the other nine passengers and two stewards could be suspected. And all of them were, including Clancy, the writer of detective stories, whom the author evidently enjoys making absurd. It will be a very acute reader who does not receive a complete surprise at the end."

It is certainly more interesting for us to have such a wide selection of suspects, varying from an ordinary shop girl to an aristocrat, and a businessman to archaeologists. Agatha Christie displays her skill at humour, in making each character have their own little quirk, and for the main part these are necessary clues to the plot, as well as being most entertaining.

Le Bourget Airport terminal, today the Musée de l'air et de l'espace - externals and some internal shots at the airport. Police inspector interrogates passengers. Mr. Clancy, the author of detective novels, reports that he once bought a tube for shooting darts, but she lies at his house. The tube is found under the seat where Hercule Poirot was sitting. Lady Horbari's husband, Stephen, is worried that she borrowed money from Madame Moriso. He is clearly not indifferent to the girlfriend of his wife Venetia, in love with him. The wasp that buzzed around in the rear compartment was released from a matchbox that Gale brought with him; both this and his coat had aroused Poirot's suspicions when he read the list of passengers' possessions. Both the wasp and the blowpipe, which Gale planted in the cabin, were intended to mislead. Gale denies Poirot's theory, but after Poirot lies to him about the police finding his fingerprints on the bottle that contained the poison, he inadvertently lets slip that he wore gloves in Anne's murder. Gale is arrested. Afterwards, Poirot pairs off Jane with Jean Dupont, who had fallen in love with her during the case.Poirot becomes both a witness and a suspect of a murder committed in an airplane flying from Paris to Croydon. It is interesting how many times the innocence presence of our little detective is entangled in with a crime scene. And what is worse? Our famous detective was almost convicted at the inquest because the jury thought he looked suspicious. God, I had a good laugh! :) The indignant Poirot assists the investigation with a zeal "to clear his name". :) The voice of Poirot. I used to read Christie's novels until recently I started to listen to them. Hugh Fraser brings Poirot's French/Belgian side of the character to life. As I have limited exposure to French, I cannot but imagine Poirot as the typical English gentlemen. Hugh Fraser gives me a more complete illustration of Poirot's character Having studied the book and asked the doorman Madame Morisot, Poirot learns that Lady Horbari was at the deceased the day before. Steps from esplanade du Trocadero down to the jardins du Trocadero - Poirot and Jane Grey walk down these steps.

In the UK, the novel was serialised as an abridged version in the weekly Woman's Pictorial magazine in six instalments from 16 February (Volume 29, Number 736) to 23 March 1935 (Volume 29, Number 741) under the title Mystery in the Air. There were no chapter divisions and all of the instalments carried illustrations by Clive Uptton.Death in the Clouds (hardcover), Greenway edition of collected works, William Collins, 1973, ISBN 0-00-231187-9 , 256 pp. Her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, came out in 1920. During her first marriage, Agatha published six novels, a collection of short stories, and a number of short stories in magazines.
