The fabulous Jamaican rum has been aged in small casks before being blended and married in oak, and bottled at 40% ABV. Pot-still rums are a Jamaican speciality – big-flavoured, robust rums with more ‘funk’ than their Caribbean cousins, particularly compared with rum from Spanish-speaking islands. Part of the Appleton Hearts Collection, this is an extremely limited release of single marque, pot still rum that has matured for a minimum of 29 years.

It makes rich rums with characteristic Christmas cake and butterscotch flavours and is known for its long-aged editions. If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label. Get more notes and tastes I attribute to whisky, don’t get me wrong I like it, but I got a big surprise after drinking a lot of dark and spiced rums. During these years, the Estate was producing several different pot-still rums, and it began to gain a reputation as a reliable source for quality spirits, a reputation that continues to this day. Matured for at least a dozen years in oak casks, this expression displays a marvellous flavour profile of ripe fruit, rich chocolate, molasses and more.

Nose – A heady floral mix, orange and vanilla, which then develops into a fuller cocoa, buttery, almond and a slight spice, with nutmeg and coffee. Formerly known as V/X and no longer carrying an age statement, Appleton's signature blend has been aptly renamed Signature Blend. You should also note that the picture images show only our serving suggestions of how to prepare your food - all table accessories and additional items and/or ingredients pictured with the product you are purchasing are not included. This blend of pot and column still rums aged for a minimum of 8 years is made with Jamaican limestone-filtered water and no added flavours.

Appleton rum is made on an estate nestled in the fertile Nassau Valley on either side of the Black River in the south-west of Jamaica. Appleton Special is a fine, medium-bodied golden rum, made up of full-flavoured traditional pot still rums and lighter character modern column still rums.
