About this deal

Orbit: Sun-synchronous orbit, altitude 645 km, inclination = 98º, LTDN (Local Time on Descending Node) = 10:30 hours, revisit frequency of ≤4 days. The two PMC-2 imagers have a light and compact on-axis TMA (Three Mirror Anastigmatic) optical system, with a focal length of 7.8m, and an f-number of 15. Each one adopts 5 spectrum (PAN+4 MS) TDI (Time Delay Integration) CCD (Charge Coupled Device) with an individual FOV of 2.1º. With the combination of two camera FOVs, the full swath is extended to 45.3 km and the subsatellite point spatial resolution is 0.81 m for PAN and 3.24 m for MS imagery. The configuration of the observation scheme is illustrated in Figure 8. On March 6, 2015, the satellite finished orbital commissioning and tested application in the areas of land resources, environmental protection and agriculture and was officially declared operational. The results of orbital commissioning show that the main performance parameters are better than expected. The image quality is excellent. GF-2 will work in coordination with the other remote sensing satellites such as GF-1, CBERS-3 and ZY3. The services provided by the satellite will help boost development of Chinese image data application and spatial information sectors and help them reduce their imports of higher-resolution imageries.

The balloon and other platforms are to carry three types of earth payloads, including optical, laser and synthetic aperture radar (SAR). These were to be capable of providing images with a spatial resolution of better than 0.1 meters, and a spectral resolution of better than 1 nanometer. The newly-launched satellite is equipped with several visible light and infrared cameras, which cover an area of about 7,000 by 7,000 kilometers (4,350 miles) that includes China and its surrounding regions. Gaofen-1 was launched in April 2013 and entered an orbit of 600 kilometers (373 miles) away from the Earth. The Gaofen program is expected to put seven HD observation satellites into orbit by 2020. China also stated earlier in the year that it planned to launch a 20-meter-resolution synthetic aperture radar satellite to geostationary orbit in 2023.

The GF-1 spacecraft was launched on April 26, 2013 on a CZ-2D (Long March -2D) vehicle from the JSLC (Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center) in northwest China. The GF-1 spacecraft is the first demonstration mission of the CHEOS program (Ref. 2). 8) 9) Reception of the First Image Data from Gaofen-1," Institute of Remote sensing and Digital Earth (RADI), URL: http://english.radi.cas.cn/Research/RP/201307/t20130717_106431.html The Gaofen-13 (02) (gaofen means high resolution) satellite is nominally part of the civilian China High-resolution Earth Observation System (CHEOS). Land surveys, crop yield estimation, environmental governance, meteorological early warning and forecasting, as well as comprehensive disaster prevention and mitigation are noted as the main uses of the satellite, according to Chinese state media. Have you ever heard of chaos vs cheos? If not, you’re not alone. These two words may sound similar, but they have very different meanings. Chaos is a word that most people are familiar with, but cheos is a lesser-known term. In this article, we’ll explore the differences between the two and shed some light on what they mean. Let’s take a look at some examples of different contexts and how the choice between chaos and cheos might change: Context

While the rules for using chaos and cheos are generally straightforward, there are some exceptions to keep in mind. 1. Specific Terminology The PMC-2 imagers have both outer and inner baffles to control the stray light sufficiently, focal plane circuits and CCD heat pipe cooler to greatly reduce the electronic random noise and system noise, respectively. These measures ensure that the image signal noise remains as small as possible. Under different sun elevation angles and the ground surface albedo conditions, the satellite SNR achieves values in the range of 23~43 db for PAN and 25~43db for MS data. To meet different ground surface reflecting light condition, the imaging integration time and image gain are designed to be adjustable within 1~96 and 1~5 levels, respectively and can be adjusted for every spectrum band individually. The on-orbit test histogram results exhibit a system dynamic range of 20~800 DN and a linearity of better than 3%, this results in an optimal visual effect of the imagery.GF-5 employs the SAST-5000B bus [SAST = Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology], configured with six payloads, including a VIS and SWIR (Shortwave Infrared) hyperspectral camera, spectral imager, greenhouse gas detector, atmospheric environment infrared detector at very high spectral resolution, differential absorption spectrometer for atmospheric trace gas, and a multi-angle polarization detector. GF-5 has a design life of 8 years and was scheduled to launch in 2016. Notably this is much higher than the 1 meter spatial resolution intended to be provided by the Gaofen satellites. The balloons would also allow surveillance for longer periods of time than the few minutes it takes a satellite in LEO to pass overhead.
