About this deal

In simplified terms, it draws the low-temperature, low-pressure gas refrigerant, which has been vaporised in the evaporator through the extraction of heat from the vehicle’s interior, compresses and sends the then high-pressure, high-temperature refrigerant into the condenser, where it changes from vapour to liquid.

Compressor oil, also known as refrigerant oil, is vital to the operation of the air conditioning (A/C) system. In my experience when I've fitted compressors I've never added or removed oil from the system, when I know the nature of the original compressor failure. This will accelerate wear and tear of its key components – another cause of compressor failure -- and place unnecessary strain on the entire system. We offer the world's widest, deepest range of motor and gear oils, fuel and oil additives, care products, chemical problem-solvers and service products.

The TT AC system has a total PAG oil capacity of 135g but with a newly drained compressor and new condenser/dryer, how much should I put in? Not only does it lubricate the compressor’s internal components, but it also acts as a sealing agent for rubber components such as hoses and seals, absorbs heat, and in some hybrid vehicles, prevents electrical damage to the compressor. PAG 46 oil is the correct specification lubricant for both reciprocating and rotary compressors, although there are even differences with this designation, as the formulation will vary slightly depending on whether the system uses R134a or the newer, more environmentally friendly, R1234yf refrigerant.

R134a can, however, continue to be used to carry out service and maintenance work on existing R134a systems. metric tons) for which a type approval was issued within the EU as of January 1, 2011, can therefore no longer be filled with R134a. These would be idieal for the home DIY'er as you would be kicking the gauges around for years, I think they come with a case too. Known as PS-R1, the polyether contains additional additives to protect against wear, oxidation and corrosion etc and offers excellent lubricity, thermal and chemical stability, making it ideal for both refrigerants. Manufactured from a reversible chemical reaction between acids and alcohol to form polyolesters and water, POE lubricants are less hygroscopic than PAG ones, however if exposed to large quantities of water there’s a risk of a natural reverse reaction leading to acid formation and corrosion of system components.

In fact, using the wrong type of oil is one of the biggest causes of failure in a newly installed compressor. This gas is good for the environment, having a lifespan of just 11 days, and it lubricates the compressor in your air con system to improve its lifespan. Can be used as an alternative to the various PAG oils that are offered for R134a (has the advantage of not being hygroscopic—i. In addition, the additive package is always in constant evolution: POE Errecom is today the best solution for applications even with HFO (hydrogenated fluorinated olefins) of new generation like R1234yf and R1234ze, both Gases latest formulation with low GWP.

The above application instructions are recommendations given on the basis of our own tests and experience. I was avoiding filling myself as I thought it was tricky to do so from empty just through the low pressure port. For your car’s air conditioning system to work properly, it needs an adequate compressor oil supply. The different types of PAG such as PAG46, PAG100 etc… reflect the varying oil viscosity (the measure of an oil’s resistance to flow) and the refrigerant it’s designed for. Refrigerant burns at a -30deg onto open skin is nasty, everything will be covered in oil, you don't want oil or refrigerant in your eyes, refrigerant liquid will blind you.Although unapproved as an AC lubricant by manufacturers, ISO 68 grade PAO is often used in the mobile aftermarket as a “universal” compressor oil. Halfords’ air con purifier works quickly and effectively to purify the air in your air conditioning system, eliminating bacteria and odour within 10 minutes. Because it has many parts that all must work in tandem for the compressor to operate properly, lubrication is key. The oil is extremely hygroscopic, conductive and is available in three viscosities, Pag 46, Pag 100 and Pag 150.
