Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB.This was written in diary form, in short, snappy chapters or often a few entries per page, which made for a really quick and enjoyable read. Ideally this should be read against A Bit Of A Stretch - The Diaries of A Prisoner By Chris Atkins, so that you get both sides of the story.

About the Author: David Berridge joined the prison service in 1992, three weeks short of his 32nd birthday. I was hoping this book would give more of an insight as to a certain set of prisoners, I should have known better. We learn what it is like to be an officer, working alongside some amazing officers who have your back and first into the line of fire as well as those who cower away and put folk at risk. It is interesting to see how much prison life have changed even just over the course of the authors career.

Having heard first hand how some prisoners are treated, I cant bring myself to agree with people in power perpetuating the treatment most of these prisoners have known their whole lives. Biography: David Berridge joined the prison service in 1992, three weeks short of his 32nd birthday. He does mention a few of Parkhurst's most notorious inmates in one sentence, but these are never mentioned again, which was a shame. We could learn a lot from our Scandinavian peers about how to rehabilitate criminals - sadly all that’s described within these pages is abuse and gaslighting, the prison service and prisoners alike are probably grateful this generation of people are off to retire.Inside Parkhurst' is his raw, uncompromising look at what really went on behind the massive walls and menacing gates of one of Britain's highest security prisons. From dealing with inmate violence and clearing out defiled prison cells to the unsavoury nature of prison language and life, this is an even more detailed look inside Britain’s most infamous prison. I loved it and whizzed through the pages, was both shocked and saddened for both the staff and the prisoners. I had also read prison books by Norman Parker, Bobby Cummines (both of these books were also about Parkhurst) and Neil Samworth (also a prison officer), and I enjoyed all of these. There were many laughs along the way but even I could see the drastic, unwarranted changes being slowly implemented.
