About this deal

Cox Tor.Awesome views. Great place from which to watch the sun set over the Westcountry. Very easily accessible from a large car parking area on the western edge of Dartmoor's high moor. Cox Tor is also superb as part of a circular walk taking in Roos Tor and The Staple Tors. You can fdollow the 17 mile Erme Plym Trail from Ivybridge to Laira Bridge on the outskirts of Plymouth. Or there's a five mile circular GPS walking route here with an ONS map of the Erme estuary here. 13. Dartmoor Princetown Walk Please Note: From Ten Tors 2020 on, rare bird nesting areas and other out of bounds areas are shown on the Annex A paper mapping which has been distributed to Team Managers. Previous versions should be ignored and discarded. Watch out for bogs! Ger Tor. Situated high above the tail of Tavy Cleave in the west section of the National Park. Stunning views. Located near the National Trust’s Castle Drogo in the Teign Gorge to the north of the Park, offering unbeatable views. This is a really accessible tor, and possibly one of the best walking routes on Dartmoor. With dramatic views across the gorge, to the castle and Dartmoor’s north moor, a must for a summer’s day out.

Thanks to Dartmoor National Park for making me their Love Moor Life Ambassador and helping me with PR logistics! All of the routes state their level of difficulty and give an outline of the routes, so that you are fully informed before you even leave the house.Roos Tor.Roos is the northernmost tor in a cluster of outcrops on the western side of Dartmoor National Park. It's near the stunning and much photographed Great Staple Tor and overlooks Langstone Moor with its stone circle, standing stone and stone row. Great Mis Tor dominates to the east. The view north along the flank of the high moor to Great Links Tor is beautiful.

This is the highest point on Dartmoor.621 metres above sea level, High Willhays is one of only twomountains in southern England. Thanks to Firepot (Eat Outdoor Food) who are providing some light-weight, high-calorie meals to keep me going!

If you are new to Dartmoor, you should do a few training days here first to acclimatise to the terrain. To make the walk a little less challenging, you could still do it in 2 long days, but (a) only in good weather, and (b) without camping, if you have car support. Today it’s a popular jaunt, often combined with Scorhill Stone Circle and the Teign-e-ver clapper bridge, along with the stone rows and standing stones. It is therefore a good afternoon’s exploration on a clear day, but in murky weather a map and compass should be carried as this is still open country.

Dartmoor National Park was one of the first National Parks established in 1951, and it sits slap bang in the middle of Devon so it's easy to reach from north, south, east or west.
