The blends resulted from each house were let to marry for a few months and then were shipped/sold around the world and the idea behind Merser was to revive the craft of rum blending in London. These cookies are needed for essential functions such as signing in, storing products in your trolley and making payments. it starts off with bit of a kick to it to start but settles into a more balanced rum as you drink it. Merser Double Barrel brings together the finest Caribbean rums aged up to twelve years, before they are blended and rested for six months in London. The bottle represents more than meets the eye too, with the dimpled bottle representing the River Thames on which rum was transported, while the hound and post logo is a little nod to the days when most Londoners couldn't read, and would follow symbols to find their way to merchant houses.

Merser has recently launched Signature to their range, a smooth and layered balance of fine Caribbean rums aged up to eight years, harmonised and rested for six weeks in Scotch Whisky barrels in London. Nice color, smell like fruit with hint of vanilla smooth, taste is good, cream and sweet but with hint of fruit, end is nice and smooth. The rum is a blended rum in London first for decades but starts with very young oak notes, adds in the almonds and then finishes with charcoal . The family based distillers, Hayman's, (who are best known for their gins) brought this heritage back to life. It is created from a blend of Caribbean, Barbadian, Dominican and Jamaican rums aged up to 12 years! Aged up to 12 years in a warm Caribbean climate, to give a smooth and refined rum with a toasted oak character, soft woody spice and hints of vanilla, appealing to American whiskey drinkers.

Charles Merser source rums from across the Caribbean which are then expertly blended in London, restoring the capital's long lost history in blending the spirit.Such a smooth and delicious rum with a fascinating story – the best rums from the Caribbean blended in London (apparently London used to be a rum hub) with no added sweetness or colouring. On the nose, you will find an alluring vanilla sweetness with flashes of vibrant tropical fruit and a wonderful toasty oak character. Back in London, we expertly blend these rums together and rest them in wooden barrels for 6 weeks in batches of just 400 bottles.

Elegant, distinctive and wonderfully smooth, its personality will shine through with your mixer of choice. After the rums are blended at the blending house they are then left to age for a further 6 months in 250 litres ex-Scotch casks, hence the Double Barrel moniker on the bottle. To create our Signature blend, we carefully select the finest Rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Trinidad.hails from the Hayman family (yes, the same folks behind Hayman's Gin), and is London's first rum blending house in over a century! The Double Barrel blend is created by first expertly sourcing aged component rums from Barbados, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Panama. Subsequently, the rums were transported to Britain, where they were mixed in the very heart of London and left to age for 6 months.

Hints of tropical fruits as well as butterscotch and an oaky sweetness, Merser Signature is elegant, distinctive with a wonderfully smooth finish. Even if the profile tends to be more towards the light and woody Dominican Republic rums, I found that the Barbadian and Jamaican component additions add some nice vibrant fruit layers along with a bit more body, but not too much so it overtakes the overall easy-going style. If we have many of the same product available, the photo represents the less well preserved of them. If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label. With a toasty oak character, hints of vanilla and soft woody spice, Double Barrel is sophisticated, complex and surprisingly dry.Merser Rum is bottled directly from the barrel and has no additional colour or sweetener added to it.
