About this deal

Ghost in the Mirrorand Gentleman Ghost in the Mirrorare both available via the Della Morte & Co. store. Both sculptures are also available as glow-in-the-dark editions, which add another dimension as the lights go out. Inspired by Victorian horror literature, Michael Locascio created a set of sculptures showing ghosts emerging from a mirror. The translucent resin adds an otherworldly touch to the ghosts as they flow from one realm to the next. The artist even created incredible glow-in-the-dark versions of each sculpture. It's creepy without being gory, scary (the bit after the climax where they had to "believe" was terrifying, and I hope their target market never tries this usually fatal belief). I didn't mind that Lewis and Jonathan were largely absent, since Mrs. Zimmerman and Rose Rita are not minor characters in the milieu, they're fully capable of maintaing this kind of story. The Ghost in the Mirror: The Legend of Bloody Mary Revealed". HistoryCollection.com. 2017-11-04 . Retrieved 2022-01-26.

Bloody Mary is a legend of a ghost, phantom, or spirit conjured to reveal the future. She is said to appear in a mirror when her name is chanted repeatedly. The Bloody Mary apparition may be benign or malevolent, depending on historic variations of the legend. Bloody Mary appearances are mostly witnessed in group participation play. I also enjoyed seeing the story told from Mrs. Zimmerman & Rose Rita's point of view again. They make a great pair and I wouldn't mind having more of them. In the end, the monster and protagonist have a showdown which is pretty dumb. The protagonist crushes the eyes of the monster, pushes him into the mirror and breaks it Interestingly, the same effect “can also be obtained during eye-to-eye gazing between two individuals,” Caputo tells Mental Floss. In fact, this “inter-subjective gazing” produced an even higher number of “strange faces” seen by test subjects, according to another experiment conducted by Caputo in 2013. Staring into a mirror in a dimly lit room for a prolonged period can cause one to hallucinate. [6] Facial features may appear to "melt", distort, disappear, and rotate, while other hallucinatory elements, such as animal or strange faces, may appear. Giovanni Caputo of the University of Urbino writes that this phenomenon, which he calls the "strange-face illusion", is believed to be a consequence of a "dissociative identity effect", which causes the brain's facial-recognition system to misfire in a currently unidentified way. [6] Other possible explanations for the phenomenon include illusions attributed, at least partially, to the perceptual effects of Troxler's fading [7] [6] and possibly apophenia, [8] or even self-hypnosis. Bloody Mary 2) Mary Queen of Scots (1542 – 1587)

Not to mention, the book felt like it was building for a crazy event. I thought we were gonna get these super wild “ghost clones on steroid” characters destroying the town, or everyone turning into mutated crustaceans, or venture into a metaphor for the afterlife and have a crazy supernatural fight scene inside of the mirror. The story is about a kid who lives on the line of poverty where he has to endure his bratty sister and making due with his status. He one day receives a new dresser and mirror from his parents to replace some furniture he has had since he was a baby and this excites him very much. But things turn south once he and his best friend discover an ominous note on the floor next to the new mirror in his bedroom. It starts with a guy passing through a deserted area and strangely falls into a well. Cut to Shih Chun on a long walk. He stops at a Buddhist temple. He is a scholar who chooses a haunted house to copy scriptures. The house has a well that we saw in the first scene. It is haunted by Brigitte Lin. Others are frightened off but Shih Chun stays. Rather than doing ghostly things she spends the first half of the movie doing cooking and cleaning. Finally the dragon responsible for Brigitte being a ghost shows up (if you are still awake.) An Optical Illusion that Explains the Origins of Imaginary Monsters". December 2013 . Retrieved 2020-12-02.

Brigitte Lin went on to star as a ghost again almost 20 years later in "The Bride with White Hair". Fans of wuxia, fantasy, martial arts, or whatever label fits, hail that movie as one of the best. Today, anyone who comes across this movie and watches it most likely watches it for that reason. That includes me.

'Creepy doll was freaking me out so I put it in the boot - then I heard knocking'

My art is influenced by mythology, the occult, and the macabre, but I try to give my pieces a sense of classical maturity,” Locascio tells My Modern Met. “I have more ideas than I know what to do with, but I tend not to begin a piece until I have a unique take on the theme, and hopefully something creative that people haven’t seen before, even if the characters or concepts are familiar.” There were a few points in the story where, just as I thought their predicament couldn't get any worse, something surprising happened to complicate matters and add to the sense of urgency. I suppose the only criticism I have is that it astounds me that Rose Rita's parents would allow her to go off on a long journey alone with Mrs. Zimmerman again, after the events of the previous book. I might find it hard to imagine as a parent, but as a reader, I'm grateful for their questionable judgement--without it the adventure could not unfold. This book has a slightly similar plot / premise to Let's Get Invisible from the original GB series. Our main character is gifted this mirror/dresser/shelf thingy as a gift and it's made clear early on (or rather, very heavily implied) that it's no ordinary mirror. This whole first half of the book with our main character noticing odd stuff and experiencing strange phenomena with the mirror is excellently done. There is a dark, eerie tone to the story and some very well done suspense-building that had me really invested in the book. I can see why it creeped me out when I was younger - because it nearly creeped me out reading it again as an adult!
